Read more… When A Disaster Strikes... When a disaster strikes, it creates a situation in which the day-to-day activities of people's lives are suddenly disrupted. The Congressional Charter of the American Red Cross tasks the organization the responsibility to render assistance to disaster victims. The Disaster Action Team (DAT) is organized to place trained volunteers at the scene of a disaster to provide the immediate emergency assistance to disaster victims. The DAT responds to Single-Family Fires and other disasters as needed.
